Next up - get the electrics sorted out and running. Finished most of the engine detailing (chrome and polished steel), put the exhaust on. This is the most enjoyable time of the project so far, we got it started and drove it round the garage to see something you have worked on for 2 years moving. It is amazing to see how good it looks and you can image them rolling off the assembly line 18 years ago.

Lovely shiny engine bay looks the part

Wow .. just look at that ... alloy rad and engine detailing.

This is the first time the s1 moved under its own steam.

Ok here goes ... looking good eh? The pics and story below cover the rebuild in it's later stage including the first firing of the engine and with a little fettling it started well, but as you can see on the video file included there was a problem with 2 of the cylinders after a lot of problem solving it turned out to be the injectors were blocked we replaced the leads and it ran sweet as a nut.

We thought is was time to add some engine bay detail, and what a difference it made all the parts below were supplied by Auto Specialists and the quality of the products is second to none, check out the pictures below and to the left .. it's not even finished yet.

We thought it would be nice for those people who have followed this restoration to see it fire up for the first time and get driven out to its new location. Click the icon below to view movie.

What a feeling to hear it running again, and even better to see it driving out of the and around the garage ... at this point the engine wasn't firing 100% but at least it was running!
